August 16, 2017 - Two WIYSO string ensembles had the opportunity to perform before the concert on July 30, 2017 during the 40th Festival de Lanaudière, thanks to an initiative by the Association des orchestres des jeunes du Québec (AOJQ). The seven magnificent musicians included a trio composed of Emma Tomiuk, Martin Choquette, and Emily Cayer as well as a quartet (Shannon Wilson, Violet Webster, Bryanna Pilkington, and Sandrine Ladouceur). The musicians had a beautiful day to perform under the sun and the music was appreciated by everyone!
Next, on August 13th, Beaconsfield welcomed a trio of French horns (Marie-Christine Gagné, Sarah Cayer et Louis-Philippe Beauchamp) as they participated in JAMFEST 150, celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary. The trio also had the pleasure of playing a piece with David Martin, artistic director and conductor of WIYSO.
Thank you to the AOJQ and to Beaconsfield for encouraging all these musicians to share their passion for music this summer! Also, thank you to Jean Ai Seow and David Martin for the support and guidance offered to the small ensembles.
And the music continues at our first concert of the 2017-2018 season: « Airs d’automne » on Saturday November 4th, 7:30pm at the Saint-Joachim Church in Pointe-Claire.
