April 8, 2018 – Returning for a fourth year, the West Island Youth String Orchestra and conductor Jean Ai Seow were welcomed by the City of Dollard des Ormeaux to share their love of music by way of a free concert. Also sharing the stage was the McGill Conservatory String Ensemble conducted by Mr. Dmitry Babich.
The repertoire this year provided listeners with an eclectic collection of songs, from the classics of Bach and Dvorák to the haunting Cry of the Celts and the toe-tapping Sabre Dance. The String Orchestra shared one of their favourites, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Suite, a sure treat for adult and child alike.
The programme concluded on a festive note with both groups joining together to perform Johann Strauss’ Radetsky March.
West Island Youth String Orchestra thanks the city of D-D-O for their care and this opportunity to share a ‘moment of music’ with the community.
